Green Man Festival 2022

Working in partnership with Green Man Festival and University South Wales, the Green Man Trust’s Media Training programme is rooted in developing the skills and raising the aspirations of young people who aspire to a career in the creative industries. Feeding into their academic studies, the programme offers Media Production students a 7-day intensive, hands-on work experience at Green Man, where they are responsible for camera engineering and editing the live feed of the 6,000-capacity Far Out stage. They also make a short film in response to a client brief that premieres in the festival’s Cinema tent as part of its public programme. Students are mentored by top entertainment industry professionals that work around the world on major tours and in renowned venues.

It’s a unique opportunity for growth and development – the project hones students’ skills, broadens their professional horizons and develops their confidence to work in the industry. Participants leave with an enhanced CV and skillset, put their skills to the test in a fast-paced and stimulating environment and expand their professional networks. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be up close and personal with some of the most high-profile bands from across the globe and, for many, it offers the chance to attend a music festival for the first time.

The continued support for the Welsh Broadcasting Trust over the past 4 years has been instrumental, especially as we faced the unprecedented challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. We were able to keep the programme alive and supported 31 students.
